Steps taken when developing a website |
|
When developing a website, here are a list things to consider when planning your website and the flow of the development phase.
- To design your web site, we need to understand your needs, company's services and/or products. With that information in hand, we will plan objectives and what pages are needed to accomplish your goals.
Let's develop a plan for your Website and prepare for answer the following questions: Who? Who is your target audience? Study your target audience. What would they like? Now, write down your intended audience. List your audience background, their interests, skills, values and knowledge. What? What's the purpose of your site? To educate, entertain, provide product/service information to others, or a combination of these. As you plan your web site remember each web page should have an objective, but within the constraints of the Website's purpose. If you aren't sure how to proceed, look at other Websites similar to the one you want to create on the Internet for ideas. When? When do you want to start your site? How often do you plan on updating your site - daily, weekly, twice a month, or monthly? Where? Where are your site going to put your site (host it)? Choosing the right hosting service depends on your individual requirements. Once the needs of your site become apparent we will help you chose an appropriate host server... Linux (Unix) or Windows Based Server. Why? Why are you developing a Website? Keep your friends and family informed, seek interaction with other people with your interests, or a Web presence for your business? How? How will you create your Website? How do you plan on researching material for your Website? How will you create your Website? Remember content will make or break your Website.
Now develop your Website Plan by using the above guidance. Print your Website Plan to guide you through the development process. Your Website Plan is dynamic in nature and should be updated as you learn more information about the above six questions. We can assist you in what you need to fulfill your main intentions for creating a website.
- Domain name registration is the next important step. The domain name is the internet address for your website, for example – www.yourdomainname.com. We can assist you in registering your domain name.
- Once the needs of your site become apparent we will help you chose an appropriate host server... Linux(Unix) or Windows Based Server. To the user who views your website, it makes no difference whether you select a Windows or a Linux based server because it all looks the same to the user. The only difference is the programming method used to develop the web site. Windows based web server uses ASP/SQL and a Linux based sever uses PHP/MySQL.
- Next, you need to gather and create the content for your website. We recommend you to look at other websites that are similar to the one you want to create and observe what information the sites have and how they organize and display the information. We can assist you in creating the information you want to put on your website.
- While gathering content for your website, we can get the design phase in motion. Logo design and scanning services are available. We can use most formats of existing artwork you may have. A successful web site should present a professional image of your business. Ideally it should also include some backend solutions that will allow you to update and maintain your site painlessly. The balance of these two elements will definitely put your web site in a top tier category. In e-business, small is beautiful, but your web site must project a professional and sophisticated business image that many large corporations have. This is one of proven strategies to win credit and trust from the visitors to your site.
- Once we create the design and look of your website, we will then discuss any changes and/or additions that need to be made. The changes are made we will let you review the website design to see if any more changes need to be made. This process will continue until your website design meets with your approval.
- Once the website designs and look meets with your approval, we will then begin the programming of the site to HTM, CSS, FLASH, ASP, PHP, and any other programming or scripting language to create the interactive interface of your website.
- Once the development of the website is finished, review the website for any minor changes that needs to be made to the website.
- Then we can register your site on search engines. Most search engines now days have software that crawls the internet by looking at all the websites online to gather information to add to their search index.
